Back to school is in full swing for everyone and this year looks like no other has before. We, including our kids, are in uncharted territory and I know it’s hard on everyone. We’re feeling it in our house, too, I understand, mama.

One day last year, we picked our kids up from school and never took them back. And now, they’re ‘back’ but nothing is the same and it’s causing some big emotions!

I’ve found some ways to help combat the big emotions and maybe they will be helpful for you & your family, too.

Read. Pause whatever is going on, take a few breaths, and pick out a book to snuggle up on the couch with and read for a bit together.

Take a walk! Get outside and take a walk around. Let some of the energy out there and soak in the vitamin D. You will all come back with a clearer head.

Have an impromptu dance party. I know it seems silly, but when the wiggles are released, everyone feels a bit better (and silly) after.

Last, but not least, find as much grace for yourself and them as possible. In the end, we’re doing the best we can.
